Thanksgiving Quote

Elsinore's teachers at school asked all of the children in the class what they are thankful for and then wrote down each of the quotes in a Thanksgiving newsletter for the parents.  Below is a sampling of the responses.

"I'm thankful for books." - A
"I'm thankful for my teddy" - L
"I'm thankful for my toys, my family, and Wilbur." - T
"I'm thankful for ice cream and jello, they make my heart happy." - I
"I'm happy about my birthday!  I live to eat chocolate!" - O
"I'm thankful for my mommy and my recycling trucks." - S
"I'm thankful for my sister and my daddy and my mommy." - M
"I'm thankful for my teachers and my sister." - K
last, but not least....
"I'm thankful for my garden.  I like that there's no vegetables in it.  Just dirt." - Elsinore

Quotable Three Year Old part 2

E: "I have a BooBoo on my shoulder!"
A:  "How'd that happen?"
E:  "From the Wall!"
A:  "Which wall?"
E:  "????.......NO!  There weren't any witches on the wall!"

While playing at home one afternoon Els hit her head twice.  She was rubbing it and moaning and said, "this house isn't right.".

Quotable Three Year Old

Els was sleeping in bed with me one night and she woke up at 3 a.m. and asked if I'd cuddle with her.  After a few minutes she asked, "Mom – did you brush your teeth?".  I responded, "Yes, but it was last night before I came to bed.".  Els said, "Your breath is really hot"

One of her first days at The Children's School a child asked Els, "Are you a boy or a girl?"  Els responded, "Well, I usually like to call myself a woman."  All of the teachers talked about it for days.

Els after school one day said, "Mom - we had a picnic today."  I asked, "What from your lunch that I packed did you eat?"  Els responded, "The salami!....the cheese just got in the way."

Quotable Two Year Old - August

One day I asked Els if she wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich OR a tuna fish sandwich for lunch.  She thought for a moment and responded, “I would like a jellyfish sandwich!”  She has since requested a jellyfish sandwich to eat once or twice per week.

While at alive after five, the band was doing a sound check.  When the sax player started playing loudly, Els clasped her hands over her ears and said, “ouch!  That hurt my feelings!”.

There is a huge curly willow tree at my parent’s house that we planted for my Mom’s 50th birthday.  Elsinore knows it as “Grandma’s Tree”.  While on a walk about with Uncle Scott to see “Grandma’s Tree” she looked up into the tree and said, “Grandma, are you up there?”. At that exact moment a hawk screamed from down below in the hollow.

Exergy Tour 2012

The Exergy Tour women's cycling race took place over the weekend.  The final race of the series started in Hyde Park on Memorial Day.  A bunch of friend's met at Scott's house on 13th and his neighbor, Willy Mule, hosted a wonderful brunch.  We then watched the race start from Camel Back park.  The girls rode proudly in backpacks worn by the Dads.

After all of the police motorcycles, women cyclists, chase, and media cars zoomed past us cheering fans, Elsinore announced, "that was fun!"...about twenty times.  Over the last couple days Els periodically says things like, "I saw a motorcycle race." and  "the motorcycle race was fun!".   Apparently the police motorcycles leading the way made a bigger impact on her than the female cyclists doing the real racing.

quotable 2 year old

Elsinore is a good little talker and has been adding to her vocabulary rapidly for the last few months.  She is now also stringing more words into longer sentences and coming up with some very funny things.  I'm worried we are going to forget them, so I want to capture some of the things she says on her blog.  Here are just a few...I'm sure we'll be adding more soon.

"Hi Bean.  Would you like to go into my mouth, Bean?" - during lunch with LaLa whilst eating Kidney beans

"That's Elsinore in the window eating a cupcake." - envious of a little girl doing just that in a book titled Mostly Monsterly

"Kiss it better, Daddy!" - during an incredibly messy and stinky diaper change

"That was fun!" - waking up in the morning after sleeping in the big bed with Mom
