Quotable 2 year old - June and July

More quotes from the growing conversationalist.  It is amazing that she thinks these things up on her own!

Elsinore singing her FAVORITE song and adding her own special verses, "...The mama on the bus says I love Elsinore, I love Elsinore, I love Elsinore.  The Mama on the bus says I love Elsinore, all around the town.  The Daddy on the bus says I love paint, I love paint, I love paint..."

While smashing corn flakes on the table uncle scott said, "Elsinore, if you are going to play with your food instead of eating it, we’ll take it away." To which Els responded, “I KNOW the RULES, Uncle Scott”

Elsinore and Olivia have figured how to harvest fruit from the raspberry bush at Matt and Jana’s. they pick it clean of ripe berries daily.  Els was picking berries and Uncle Scott explained that there were no more red berries and the ones she was picking weren’t ready yet and she needed to stop picking them. Els looked at the raspberry bush and asked, “Raspberries, are you finished yet?”

Corn on the Cob & Bone in Steak

Steve offered to fix dinner tonight and chose bone in angus steaks and corn on the cob.  He thought the latter would be fun for Elsinore to try.  What a treat!  After her second bite of corn she looked at him and exclaimed, "I like it!".  Oh - and she also likes eating steak on the bone, but we already knew that.

Hand, Food, and Mouth

Els and LaLa both contracted Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease late last week.  It came down harder on LaLa for sure.  But, Els was certainly having her share of misery, including fever, sensitive skin, screaming out in the middle of the night for what seemed like hours, and finally little blisters on her feet.  Thank goodness Tylenol and Ibuprofen helped keep the pain manageable.

Because of the infection, the girls didn't go to G-laugh for the first half of the week.  I stayed home on Wednesday and took both girls in the morning.  And, lucky for us, Uncle Scott came by with coffee and some ideas for keeping the girls entertained.  Els convinced him to take her outside for a walk-about in only her diaper.  What a refreshing way to start the day!

The girls also enjoyed playing dress up for an hour or so.  For being so sick, they sure were fun!

Exergy Tour 2012

The Exergy Tour women's cycling race took place over the weekend.  The final race of the series started in Hyde Park on Memorial Day.  A bunch of friend's met at Scott's house on 13th and his neighbor, Willy Mule, hosted a wonderful brunch.  We then watched the race start from Camel Back park.  The girls rode proudly in backpacks worn by the Dads.

After all of the police motorcycles, women cyclists, chase, and media cars zoomed past us cheering fans, Elsinore announced, "that was fun!"...about twenty times.  Over the last couple days Els periodically says things like, "I saw a motorcycle race." and  "the motorcycle race was fun!".   Apparently the police motorcycles leading the way made a bigger impact on her than the female cyclists doing the real racing.

quotable 2 year old

Elsinore is a good little talker and has been adding to her vocabulary rapidly for the last few months.  She is now also stringing more words into longer sentences and coming up with some very funny things.  I'm worried we are going to forget them, so I want to capture some of the things she says on her blog.  Here are just a few...I'm sure we'll be adding more soon.

"Hi Bean.  Would you like to go into my mouth, Bean?" - during lunch with LaLa whilst eating Kidney beans

"That's Elsinore in the window eating a cupcake." - envious of a little girl doing just that in a book titled Mostly Monsterly

"Kiss it better, Daddy!" - during an incredibly messy and stinky diaper change

"That was fun!" - waking up in the morning after sleeping in the big bed with Mom

TuTu Drumming

Elsinore has been having so much fun with all of her new Birthday presents.  There aren't enough hours in the day for her to get her fix.  We came home last night in PJs after having dinner and a bath at LaLa's house.  Before heading to bed, Elsinore wanted to wear her new purple tutu (from Madisen) and play on her new drum set (from Dad).

Happy Birthday, Dear Elsinore!!!

We had a Birthday party at Grandpa's house to celebrate Elsinore turning 2.  Mom, Dad, Grandpa, NaNa, PopPop, Great Grandma Jo, Greata Joe, Hailey, Olive, Matt, Jana, Lindsey, Lynette, Chris, Denise, Scott, and Marney all joined the celebration.  We ate spaghetti with Bolognese sauce (special recipe from Tia Kelli), Caesar Salad, and Carrot Cake with ice cream.  Elsinore received many wonderful presents and Olive helped her open them. It was so much fun.  Thanks everyone!
