Batman Mugshot
The girls had their first full weekend together. Olive stayed with us for three nights and four days while her parents spent a weekend in Seattle for a friend's wedding. The girls had fun cooking in Elsi's kitchen, 'riding' bikes, playing in the pool and at the park with Nora and Ryan. J bought both girls new slippers for the big weekend and they both wanted to wear them all the time. They werent' thrilled about me stopping their play for a photo, hence the mugshot expressions.

Someone's in the kitchen with Elsi
It only took him about 6 hours -- time well spent.
Thank you, Grandpa!

Elsi Reader
Elsinore loves to read. I have been here only for two days and we read together for hours. I hope it's an interest she keeps for the rest of her life.

Grandpa Babysits
Grandpa came over to play with Els for a couple hours this morning while "Steve Daddy" finished up his Labor Day weekend dirt bike trip with Mark and "Abbie Mama" did some cleaning and paint touch up around the new house. Grandpa engaged in all kinds of fun games like chase and reading books. He also had the grand idea to watch a back country "tail-dragger" airplane instructional video while they ate tuna fish sandwiches together. I think Els was quite intrigued by the topic. Not just b/c she isn't actually allowed to watch t.v. yet, either. After lunch the two of them played outside and Grandpa returned her to me with a messy diaper and tree sap all over her shirt and hands. The diaper didn't surprise me. But, tree sap? I fear he was trying to teach her how to climb trees.

Quotable Two Year Old - August
One day I asked Els if she wanted a peanut butter and jelly
sandwich OR a tuna fish sandwich for lunch.
She thought for a moment and responded, “I would like a jellyfish
sandwich!” She has since requested a jellyfish sandwich
to eat once or twice per week.
While at alive after five, the band was doing a sound
check. When the sax player started
playing loudly, Els clasped her hands over her ears and said, “ouch! That hurt my feelings!”.
There is a huge curly willow tree at my parent’s house that
we planted for my Mom’s 50th birthday. Elsinore knows it as “Grandma’s Tree”. While on a walk about with Uncle Scott to see “Grandma’s Tree” she looked up into the tree and said, “Grandma, are you up
there?”. At that exact moment a hawk screamed from down below in the hollow.
